    Choosing the right Dishwasher

More than half of UK homes have a dishwasher. They minimise kitchen clutter and use up less water and do a better job than hand washing.

There are two main types of dishwasher, standard and compact. As the name suggests, compact dishwashers are smaller so they use less energy. The downside is that they hold fewer dishes.

When choosing a new dishwasher, it is best to choose a model that provides different wash cycle options, such as heavy wash, cold wash, or light rinse. Using these wash cycle options can save on your energy bills.

Another way to save money on energy is to choose a dishwasher that has an option of either heat drying or air drying. Using heat to dry dishes draws a large amount of electricity, whereas the fans used for air drying consume very little energy.
